Huge Update - including the first preview, video playthrough and launch news
Hello everyone! Sorry it’s been a while since the last update. We wanted to hold back a little bit until we had a solid launch date for the Kickstarter campaign (see below)! Despite the quiet spell, development on Damnation: The Gothic Game has been progressing well over the past few months and we have lots of exciting news to share…
First and foremost, we have a launch date for the Kickstarter campaign
The game will launch on Thursday the 24th of October at 8am GMT. After nearly three years of work, this will be a huge milestone for us. We’ll obviously be posting reminders about the campaign in the lead up, but please do check out the campaign once it’s up.
The artwork is complete
Featuring over 130 unique cards, the game is packed with fantastic art. It has been an absolute dream to have worked with two truly world class artists in Hue Teo (https://www.artstation.com/htartist) and Anca Albu (https://www.artstation.com/albu_ancanicoleta) on the game. Both are from Romania, which is pretty fitting for a game featuring Dracula as the central character!
We truly couldn’t have wished for better artists to work with – both are supremely talented, and went above and beyond in making the game look as good as possible. We’re delighted with the finished product and hope you like it.
We’ll be showcasing more of the game’s art over the coming weeks in the build up to the launch.
We’ll be at Spiel, Essen
We’re delighted to announce that we’re going to have our own stand at Spiel this year, which is one of the biggest board game conventions in the world. The event takes place from the 24th - 27th of October. We’ll be at stand 5-M120 with a copy of the game available for people to play. Please come and say hello!
“Fast paced, amusingly adversarial and filled with graphic, bloody fun.”
We’ve had our first preview courtesy of Jon Ferris from Creator Consortium. It’s incredibly rewarding to read positive feedback for the game. Here’s a snippit from Jon’s summary:
Overall, we think the game is set to receive a lot of interest over the next few months. It looks great, it feels great and as we mentioned several times already, there’s so many layers of interest to keep even the most jaded tastes interested.
To read the rest of the preview, you can do so on the Creator Consortium website.
That’s not all, watch a play through of the game…
Summoned Games have recorded a playthrough using a prototype of the game. Despite some confusion around certain rules (entirely our fault for our wording, which we’re still working on!), all involved had a lot of fun. They seem a great bunch and we certainly enjoyed watching the carnage unfold. You can check out the video on their YouTube channel.
Check back for updates
We’ll be posting lots more content over the next few weeks as we build up to the Kickstarter launch on the 24th of October, including an exclusive interview with a co-creator of the original game, Robert Wynne Simmons.
In the meantime, he’s a photo of the prototype set up in all its glory.
