Kickstarter Campaign Cancelled
Hi everyone,
This is a difficult post to write but given that we're still 75% away from our funding goal we feel it's time to accept that the game isn't going to fund on this occasion.
We've been taking advice from you and thinking of the reasons why the campaign hasn't had the success we were hoping for. There are a few things we could - and should - have done better. We feel the main two issues were:
The campaign goal was too high, especially considering we're a first time publisher
The marketing of the game could have been done a lot better
We're still really proud of this game, and despite the failure of this campaign, we've learned some important lessons that will hopefully help us in the future.
We're going to take a little bit of time to reflect some more on the next step, but we're currently thinking of relaunching the campaign around March 2020. In the mean time, we're going to look for manufacturers that would allow us to produce a smaller minimum print run in order to significantly reduce the campaign goal. We'll also expand on our marketing campaign on social media and in forums, as well as sending it out to more reviewers.
The feedback from people who have played the game has been overwhelmingly positive, including by the reviewers to whom we sent copies. We are very grateful for everyone's feedback and a special thank you to everyone who went to the trouble of creating videos and sharing our campaign on social media.
Our booth at Spiel 19 was constantly packed with people wanting to find out more and also demoing the game. There were a lot of laughs, some treachery, a hint of suffering... all in all a lot of fun was had, which gives us great confidence that the game will successfully fund in the future!
On a personal level, I just want to say an enormous thank you to everyone who backed and supported us. If you haven't done so already, please consider signing up to our mailing list, where we'll keep everyone updated.
